6/4 – open

Writing is not a solitary act. Yes, writing is singular, individual, “done or existing alone,” yet it is hardly the product of seclusion and isolation, rather “good” writing requires openness and awareness. Inspiration comes from what exists outside of ourselves. Inspiration is drawn from the puaʻa standing stoic against the trail of taillights that bleed the concrete in front of him. Inspiration is the echoes of bone, familial and otherwise, memory and marrow. Before I, now we, now us. Inspiration is each other’s efforts. Inspiration is each other’s perspectives. Inspiration is collaboration with each other. Inspiration is community. Inspiration is understanding that no idea is original; and that No idea can be owned; only shared, only borrowed, only offered, but only if willing to remain open to the exchange and open the exchange:

Aloha and welcome.
